“A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men”—Proverbs 18:16
Dr. Myles Monroe once wrote that “God has put a gift or talent in every person that the world will make room for.It is this gift that will enable you to fulfill your vision. It will make a way for you in life. It is in exercising this gift that you will find real fulfillment, purpose, and contentment in your work.”
When we recognize and tap into our gift—what we not only love doing, but are naturally really good at, doors open, people are served, and our lives become more fulfilling. Many will ask, ‘What is my gift?’ It is what you are uniquely qualified to do. Take a look at what you love to do and what you do best, claim hold to it, and use it to serve others.
In finding your gifting, resist the temptation to focus on others’ gifts and envy what they are doing. Be careful not to confuse desire with motive. Your gift should be used to serve others rather than to put yourself above others.
Once you understand your gift, claim it. Once you claim it, you own it. And once you own it, you can share it with others. When you exercise your gift freely, everyone benefits. Your family is encouraged and inspired. People are served. The greater community is better.
Are you using your gift selflessly to the service of others?
